市场交易成本是通过市场交易的方式来协调供需双方的矛盾而发生的成本。
关于市场交易成本，科斯在1960年的《社会成本问题》一文中说得很清楚：In order to carry out a market transaction it is necessary to discover who it is that one wishes to deal with, to inform people that one wishes to deal with and to what terms, to conduct negotiations leading up to a bargain, to draw up the contract, to undertake the inspection needed to make sure that the terms of the contract are being observed, and so on.(1960,15)
